Get
into Footballs The FA's first campaign aimed at promoting our
football development initiatives to all children and parents.
As
the guardians of the game, it is The FA's role is to ensure there are
opportunities for all to play the game and also engage people at all
levels in off-the-field roles. It's about doing things
properly. About making sure everyone has a chance to be involved in
football, regardless of ability, race, religion or background.
About
encouraging and increasing the involvement of groups at all levels of
football by recognising that inequalities exist and taking steps to
address them. It's about making opportunities available where currently
they are limited.
It is the work of our 270 football development
officers locally that helps us to deliver our objectives of football
for all. Wherever you live, football in your region is governed by your
County Football Association and each has its own football development
department whose job it is to develop local opportunities.
They are there on the other end of the phone or e-mail to support you to get into football.
Chairman’s and Secretary’s Report
Bluntisham Rangers Juniors F.C.
Last year saw Bluntisham Rangers Juniors F.C. become the County Winners of the FA Development Club of the Year.
We have continued to grow and flourish even with the emergence of other
Junior Football teams. BRJFC stand for football in the purist sense of
the game and seek to develop the potential of all its players demanding
the highest coaching standards of its managers and seeking to use best
of breed techniques for football development.
Last year we began
a programme of training whereby many of our managers and coaches
attended, and passed, their Level one qualification. We have the best
coach to player profile of any junior football Club in the area with
the Club having a 7:1 ratio when the national average is 14:1.
We
have another three coaches currently undertaking their Level two and
have recently appointed a senior person as lead coach. This Lead Coach will oversee the implementation of new training methods designed to help the players improve.
One of our coaches has also been selected to take the UEFA A Licence
which is the highest award in the game. This not only enhances their
coaching abilities but also the level of care and safety offered to
their players as, another of the aspects of the course, is to attend a child protection workshop and first aid course and the new equality and integrity courses.
BRJFC have now lost 10 players to four different professional clubson playing contracts. We have links with Norwich City, Peterborough
United, Southend United, Cambridge United, Northampton Town and other
senior local Clubs.
We also have 8 other players for theCambridgeshire Representative squadsat Colts level and this represents a tremendous achievement on behalf of the players and their respective coaches.
The FA have now fully rolled out their Child Protection policiesand our Child Welfare Officer, Robert Trewick has processed the CRB
checks of our officials with outstanding checks due back over the
coming weeks. We have over 40 parent helpers currently checked for
their suitability to work closely with our players. The safety of our
players is and will continue to be of paramount importance.
We where also pleased to announce that Rob won theCounty Grassroots’ Coach of the Year Award
– this was a marvellous achievement and one which recognised Rob’s hard
work and dedication towards his players? He has worked tirelessly to
help local players develop whether it be elite, advanced, local or
grassroots level.
And grassroots
is what the Club is all about. We are about Football for all and have
an all-inclusive policy for football with our players. We have over 170
registered players and have grown massively from our original 3 teams
some 7 years ago.
We believe innon-discriminatory policies
and look to attract players from all over Huntingdonshire particularly
at Colts level. We are extremely proud of the hard work carried out by
our players and coaches over the past years.
We would like to thank everybody that supported our fundraising events.
These provide valuable funding for the Club and we cannot stress enough
how important this support is.
In terms of infrastructurethe Club has close links with senior working groups within the FA. We
have been offered grants and funding for new goalpost projects and
wewill be taking advantage of this to provide new goalposts at our
playing venues. We are also going to invest in new safety goalposts to
help our players enjoy better training programs to help their
development. This has been achieved by working closely with the Regional Development Directorswithin the game.
Another project we have undertaken is the Skills Development Coachingfor 8-11 year olds. Our Chairman met Trevor Brooking on a training
course and discussed skills acquisition in young players. As a result
we will shortly implement the Skills Development program that is so
vital in young players. This is intended to develop the ‘pathways of
decision making’ to promote comfort on the ball; allowing players to
make better decisions and so become better players and people.
We are the first Club in Cambridgeshireto work in this manner and we are setting up skills workshops with the
Eastern Regional Director at the Football Association in Soho Square.
You may have seen talk in the press about Mr Brooking and the new
Skills coaches; this is who our coaches and players will work with.
One final note is for our all-weather project. Many of our teams cannot
train under lights during the winter and we have worked diligently to
build a new facility so our players can train in the future. This
project has now passed its planning phase, the majority of funds are in
place and at the moment we are selecting contractors for spring next
year.
We would also like to thank;
Our many sponsors who between them have kitted out most of our teams.
The managers and team officials for all their time and hard work.
The parents and guardians for their support of the children.
And last, but
by no means, least the children themselves who have worked hard to
achieve their best and have played their games with the right attitude and in the right spirit.
Good Luck to everyone for 2007/2008 – remember it is only a game but it is ‘Joga bonito - the beautiful game!’
